“9 Spoon” German Apple Cake

It didn’t really turn out as well as I expected BUT I think it would help to start with an actual proper table spoon, as I just use dessert spoons. I will have to procure one from a flea market or something. I also didn’t cook it long enough but it still tasted ok. Whoops!

This is the most highly rated apple cake on Chefkoch.de that I am going to bake later on to use up two more wizened apples.

9 table spoons of sugar
9 table spoons of flour
9 table spoons of neutral plant oil
1 pack of baking powder
4 eggs
3 apples
some lemon juice

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees C. Mix the sugar and the eggs together until the sugar dissolves. Mix the baking powder with the flour and add to the eggy mixture. Peel the apples and cut into wedges and set them aside covered in the lemon juice so as they dont go brown. Pour half the mixture into a greased round cake tin, then layer the apples and cover with the rest of the mixture. Put in the oven for half an hour and then poke with a toothpick to see that the mixture no longer sticks to the wood (maybe it needs a bit longer then). When it is done, remove from the oven and leave to cool.

On the forum on the website, some commenters have written that they prefer it with 3 eggs instead of four, or just two apples instead of three. Sounds nice and simple :)
