Quick White Bread with Cottage Cheese

This is a recipie that I want to bake that came from a book that I got free the other day with a loaf tin that I bought because I would like to bake more of my own bread, (still on my bakery avoidance buzz).

Cottage Cheese Bread

  • 300g wheat flour type 550
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • half a teaspoon salt
  • half a cube of yeast (20g)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 200ml lukewarm buttermilk
  • 200g cottage cheese
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (decoration)

This is intended for a loaf tin that’s 25cm long and requires half an hour’s preparation and 35mins to bake.

Grease the loaf tin and leave in a warm place. Mix the flour in a warmed bowl with baking powder and the salt. Crush up the cube of yeast and add the sugar and buttermilk. Add this liquid to the flour and mix the dough thoroughly. Flill the dough in the loaf tin and cut into the top (lengthways) 1 cm deep.

Sprinkle on the poppy seeds. Cover the dough and place in a warm are (perhaps on top of the radiator) to work 15mins. Heat the oven to 220degrees centigrade to pre-heat. Then put the bread in (not on exactly the bottom shelf, but one up from that) and bake for 35mins.
