Here is the result of the first attempt at a tea egg.



  1. hey Cheapchick, it’s a fancy chinese-style boiled egg. It’s boiled then delicately cracked, soaked in tea + stuff that gives it a marbled colour (and apparently tastes like tea of you leave it long enough which I didn’t).

    I obviously wrote this way too late in the day for it to make any logical sense! LOL! If you follow the link to Cooking Cute, she explains it very well how to do it. On the Just Bento website there is a recipe for lazy tea eggs.
